It was another night at the Guthrie Theater last night, this time with my son Jon to see the current new production of
Hay Fever by Noel Coward. It's a play I didn't know but have liked other Coward plays like
Private Lives and
Blithe Spirit.
Hay Fever (and, having seen it, I have no idea why it is named
Hay Fever) was first produced in 1925, takes place right then in the Roaring '20s, is sort of a goofy-family comedy. It's a fun diversion and the theater was packed, so I guess the Guthrie has another hit on its hand.
